The service marks the third addition to NetActuate's media lineup, designed to function independently or alongside the existing Media Substrate. By leveraging the Media over QUIC (MoQ) open standard, the platform aims to decouple audience size from network costs. Internal testing demonstrated that a single relay could serve sixteen times the standard volume of video traffic without increasing backbone consumption, effectively turning the network into a scalable distribution engine for live content.
NetActuate Targets Satellite Replacement with New MoQ Relay Service
As global satellite capacity shrinks, broadcasters face a critical infrastructure gap in live streaming. NetActuate is addressing this with its new MoQ Relay service, a managed Media over QUIC delivery network that allows streaming platforms to publish a single feed and distribute it to audiences across 45 global edge locations.

Unlike overlay solutions, MoQ Relay operates directly on NetActuate’s proprietary infrastructure. The system continuously monitors transit paths, automatically rerouting traffic when degradation occurs to maintain stable delivery. Customers receive dedicated tenant environments rather than shared footprints, providing granular visibility into ingress and egress data per hop. According to CEO Mark Mahle, the move solves the industry's primary concern regarding the MoQ standard: the lack of a reliable, operator-managed relay layer. To facilitate adoption, the company is currently offering no-charge evaluation deployments for qualified media teams ahead of the IBC 2026 conference in Amsterdam.
