Celtic Bank Taps Jack Henry to Overhaul Digital Infrastructure

Salt Lake City-based Celtic Bank is moving its core processing to Jack Henry, aiming to modernize its small business lending and Banking-as-a-Service operations. The $5 billion institution seeks to leverage the tech provider’s open ecosystem to scale its national financing reach while automating internal workflows.

The partnership centers on replacing legacy systems with Jack Henry’s modern core platform. Beyond basic processing, the bank will deploy Banno Business to streamline digital interactions for commercial clients and Enterprise Workflow to refine internal approvals. For CFO Jake Barney, the decision hinged on the provider’s decoupled, cloud-ready architecture. He noted that the bank’s strategy prioritizes a core that facilitates innovation rather than dictating it, allowing for the integration of over 1,000 third-party fintech tools.

This shift positions Celtic Bank to maintain its status as a top-tier SBA lender while expanding its BaaS capabilities. Jonathan Baltzell, President of Bank Solutions at Jack Henry, emphasized that the bank’s diverse business lines require a flexible framework capable of adapting to shifting market demands. By moving to the public cloud, the bank aims to gain the technical agility necessary to evolve its services independently as its national client base grows.
