The expansion marks a strategic push to harmonize the AI stack, spanning from silicon-level hardware accelerators to application-layer agents. Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon join as Platinum members, while Ant Group enters as a Gold member, each gaining seats on the Foundation’s governing and technical bodies. This collaborative effort aims to solve fragmentation in the Chinese market by ensuring diverse AI hardware—including Huawei’s Ascend NPUs—achieves native compatibility within the PyTorch ecosystem.

During the Shanghai summit, representatives mapped out a full-stack approach to production-grade AI. Alibaba Cloud demonstrated large-scale Qwen model deployment, while Cambricon focused on hardening device-agnostic infrastructure. Ant Group showcased how Kubernetes-based tools can create secure runtimes for AI agents. By aligning these efforts under the PyTorch banner, the companies intend to lower development barriers and ensure that open-source intelligence remains the standard for training and deploying models across heterogeneous hardware.
