The incident occurred around 2 p.m. local time on September 6 after the flight arrived from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Emergency response was immediate, with over 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units descending on the scene to combat the blaze. While authorities confirmed multiple injuries, the specific condition of those involved remains unverified as recovery efforts continue.

Flight operations at the airport were grounded following the crash to facilitate the emergency response. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated that the company is working with local officials to determine the cause of the failure, emphasizing that the immediate focus remains on the welfare of the individuals affected by the accident. The FAA has launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the runway excursion.
