The program emphasizes transparency, letting policyholders adjust roof and water coverage alongside various loss settlement options. Founder and CEO John Chu noted that the company aims to provide homeowners more autonomy over their financial protection in a volatile market. Beyond core policy adjustments, the plan includes a suite of add-ons and premium credits for those who have completed qualifying home improvements. Claim-free homeowners and recent buyers also qualify for specific discounts.
Bamboo Insurance Targets Texas Market With Flexible Homeowner Policies
Facing surging renewal costs from traditional carriers, Texas homeowners now have an alternative. Bamboo Insurance has launched its Texas Essential Homeowner Program, a new admitted product designed to move away from rigid, one-size-fits-all policies by allowing residents to customize coverage based on property age, condition, and specific budget constraints.

This expansion follows a period of growth for the Midvale-based managing general underwriter. In July, the firm introduced a similar program in California, bolstered by a $150 million admitted capacity partnership with MS Transverse. By utilizing data-driven underwriting, Bamboo Insurance intends to maintain disciplined risk selection while scaling its footprint in regions where insurance affordability remains a critical issue for local residents.
