Ugreen Challenges Cloud Giants with Local AI Smart Home Hub

The system centers on a hardware hub that functions as both a NAS and a smart home controller, keeping data physically within the residence. At the top of the range, the MasterAgent MA100 utilizes an NVIDIA Jetson Thor T5000 platform to deliver 2,070 TFLOPS of AI performance. This compute power enables advanced features like cross-camera tracking and natural language queries about household events, all managed by a proprietary voice assistant named Uliya.

Ugreen is positioning this as a direct alternative to cloud-dependent ecosystems like Amazon Ring or Google Nest. By processing video and personal files locally, the company aims to eliminate monthly storage costs, though it acknowledges that the trade-off involves a higher initial hardware investment. The hub functions as a Matter controller, supporting connections via Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth, and PoE to integrate with third-party brands including Aqara, SwitchBot, and Eve.

While the company promises broad compatibility, initial support remains focused on lights, switches, and sensors. The lineup also includes three dedicated security cameras—the SynCare Indoor Cam ID500 Pro, the PoE-equipped OD600 Pro, and the battery-powered OD800 Pro—alongside a digital photo frame. Ugreen plans to launch the HomeAgent series on Kickstarter this October, where early adopters will have access to discounted pricing before the full retail rollout.
