The Romo 2 arrives in two iterations: the transparent P2 and the opaque A2. Both models feature enhanced navigation capable of detecting objects as small as 2mm, including glass surfaces and cables. DJI claims these units utilize a "human-like reasoning" system to adapt to previously encountered obstacles. Mechanically, the vacuums incorporate a two-legged base that allows them to traverse thresholds and steps up to 4cm in height. Performance metrics include a 36,000Pa suction capacity on carpets and an 85 percent reduction in operating noise compared to the original hardware.

After a series of high-profile security failures plagued its debut robotic vacuum, DJI is pivoting toward data isolation with the new Romo 2 series. The updated machines introduce a local-only mode designed to sever internet connectivity, addressing the vulnerabilities that previously left home cameras and floorplans exposed to external access.
To mitigate past reputational damage, the Local Data Mode allows users to disconnect the DJI Home app from the cloud, effectively disabling remote syncing for camera feeds and photos. Owners can also physically or digitally disable the onboard microphone and camera entirely. While this privacy architecture is set to launch in Q4, the hardware faces significant headwinds. Regulatory restrictions and the FCC’s recent ban on specific foreign-made robotics make a North American release improbable, keeping the vacuum largely tethered to international markets like the IFA debut in Europe.
