FutureCeuticals and Aura Scientific Settle Coffee Fruit Patent Dispute

A long-standing legal battle over intellectual property rights in cognitive health ingredients concluded this week as Aura Scientific agreed to recognize FutureCeuticals' patent claims. The resolution effectively terminates Aura’s NeuroRush product line while establishing a strategic supply partnership between the two companies for the ingredient CognatiQ.

FutureCeuticals and Aura Scientific Settle Coffee Fruit Patent Dispute

The settlement addresses a patent and trademark lawsuit concerning whole coffee fruit extracts, which are widely utilized in the nutraceutical industry for cognitive support. By acknowledging the validity of FutureCeuticals' intellectual property, Aura Scientific has opted to pivot its operations toward integrating the CognatiQ brand into its existing portfolio. J. Randal Wexler, General Counsel at FutureCeuticals, emphasized that the agreement protects the company's commitment to clinical research while providing a pathway for Aura to leverage proven, patent-backed ingredients.

For Aura Scientific, the transition serves as a replacement strategy for its discontinued NeuroRush ingredient. Kyle Seymour, Director of Product Development at Aura, stated that the switch to CognatiQ allows the firm to maintain product performance standards while gaining access to FutureCeuticals’ scientific data and research infrastructure. Both companies described the arrangement as a collaborative shift, moving from litigation to a joint effort focused on supplying differentiated wellness solutions to their shared customer base.
