The platform addresses the limitations of one-size-fits-all insurance models by allowing companies to segment their workforce. Employers can assign coverage based on geographic location or employment status—such as full-time versus seasonal roles—ensuring that diverse employee groups receive tailored options. By unifying these disparate plans into one management interface, HR teams avoid the complexity of juggling multiple vendor relationships.
Gravie Combines ICHRA and Level-Funded Plans in Hybrid Benefit Launch
Facing double-digit premium hikes projected for 2027, Minneapolis-based Gravie has introduced Edge, a hybrid health benefits platform. The solution enables small and midsize employers to merge individual-market coverage with level-funded plans under a single administrative umbrella, aiming to curb rising costs while maintaining workforce plan flexibility.

According to Gravie CEO Steve Wolin, the design responds to market demand for greater adaptability in the face of mounting expenses for hospital and prescription drug services. Internal projections suggest that for companies suited to this hybrid approach, the model can generate premium savings of at least 15% without forcing a reduction in overall benefit quality. The system supports 11 distinct, federally recognized plan configurations, providing a framework for businesses to maintain cost control while offering more personalized coverage.
