The purchase price, equivalent to roughly US$136 million, positions Adecoagro to scale its regional presence aggressively. While the mill processed 3.5 million tons during the 2025/26 season, the company plans to utilize its existing infrastructure to push crushing volumes to 4.5 million tons in 2027. By redirecting excess sugarcane from its current cluster, Adecoagro aims to transition the facility toward a continuous harvest model.
Adecoagro Finalizes R$705 Million Purchase of Caarapó Mill
Adecoagro S.A. has officially integrated the Caarapó mill into its Brazilian operations following a R$705 million cash transaction with the Raízen Group. The acquisition, finalized September 1, grants the company control over a facility capable of crushing up to 7 million tons of sugarcane annually in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Renato Junqueira Santos Pereira, VP of the company's Sugar, Ethanol and Energy business, indicated that the integration will mirror the operating models used at their other regional sites. The company intends to harmonize industrial efficiency and energy export metrics across all assets. CEO Mariano Bosch stated that the acquisition provides a clear path to value creation by leveraging the firm’s established low-cost production practices. Following this expansion, Adecoagro projects its Mato Grosso do Sul cluster will reach a total crushing capacity of 17 million tons by 2027.
