Independent Pharmacy Cooperative Acquires USave Pharmacy Group
The Independent Pharmacy Cooperative has finalized its acquisition of the USave Pharmacy Group, a strategic move intended to consolidate the reach of independently owned pharmacies across the United States. The merger, effective September 1, 2026, integrates USave’s long-standing community network into the broader infrastructure of the Wisconsin-based cooperative.
Bill Hamik of USave noted that the transition is designed to bolster existing relationships rather than replace them, ensuring that owners retain the responsiveness they value. Marc Essensa, President and CEO of IPC, emphasized that the acquisition serves to fortify the position of independent pharmacies in an increasingly competitive market. To ensure stability during the transition, Kate Helf, IPC’s Vice President of Pharmacy Innovation, will lead the integration efforts. Helf brings a decade of experience working with USave to the role, acting as the primary liaison for the member base.
