The campaign features a promotional video where MacIntyre, currently ranked ninth in the world, endorses the American convention. He argues that while his loyalties remain with the heritage of his home country, the inclusion of an "e" serves as a symbolic nod to the craftsmanship behind Elijah Craig, the label credited with pioneering the charred oak barrel technique in 1789.
Bob MacIntyre and Elijah Craig Campaign to Unify Whiskey Spelling
Scottish PGA professional Bob MacIntyre is stepping away from his native spelling roots, joining American brand Elijah Craig to lobby for a standardized "whiskey" with an "e." The campaign, launched for National Bourbon Heritage Month, aims to bridge the Atlantic divide between Scotch and Bourbon enthusiasts through a public vote.

Fans can cast their ballots at the Elijah Craig website until 11:59 p.m. on September 29. The final decision will be revealed on the brand's Instagram account on September 30. This initiative follows a previous push by the golfer during International Whiskey Day earlier this year, where he encouraged Scotch drinkers to sample Bourbon as a bridge between the two spirits. The brand, produced by Heaven Hill Distillery, continues to position its Small Batch, Toasted Barrel, and Straight Rye offerings as accessible entry points for those looking to experiment with American production styles.
