Chesapeake Utilities Sells 49% Stake in Florida Energy Pathway Project
NextEra Energy Resources has acquired a 49% minority interest in the Florida Energy Pathway, a $1.2 billion natural gas project spanning from Palm Beach to Miami-Dade County. Chesapeake Utilities, through its subsidiary Peninsula Pipeline, retains a 51% controlling stake to oversee the development of this critical regional infrastructure.

Jeff Householder, CEO of Chesapeake Utilities, noted that the partnership validates the strength of the regulated infrastructure opportunity. Engineering, environmental assessments, and stakeholder engagement are currently underway. Construction is slated to begin in the first half of 2028, with the infrastructure expected to enter service in 2030, pending final commissioning and design completion.
