This innovation has already been adopted by Ability opto-Electronics Technology for use in high-end global laptop brands, demonstrating the commercial viability of these research-backed solutions.
Taiwanese AI Innovations Target Industrial Upgrading and Water Safety
At the 2026 Meet Greater South event, the Ministry of Economic Affairs unveiled 31 specialized technologies designed to bridge the gap between research and commercial application. By integrating artificial intelligence into fields ranging from advanced optics to environmental monitoring, officials aim to modernize regional manufacturing and infrastructure.

Beyond hardware, the initiative addresses critical infrastructure through the Digital Twin Technology for Bio-Water Quality Sensing. Developed by the Institute for Information Industry, this system monitors the shell movements of freshwater clams to detect real-time water quality shifts. Currently active at the Bansin and Shoufeng treatment plants, the system secures water supplies for over 2 million residents while providing high-precision monitoring for the semiconductor and precision machining industries. These deployments underscore a broader commitment to enhancing production efficiency and product quality for companies such as HIWIN Technologies and TBI Motion Technology, fostering growth across central and southern Taiwan.
