The legal action, docketed as 26-cv-07086, represents investors who acquired Intuit securities between August 22, 2025, and May 20, 2026. Plaintiffs allege that the company’s leadership overstated the success of its TurboTax business and the efficacy of its AI integration, while failing to disclose mounting competitive and pricing pressures. The complaint asserts that these disclosures created a false sense of security regarding the company's financial momentum.
The discrepancy between public guidance and actual performance became apparent on May 20, 2026. On that day, reports surfaced that Intuit planned to cut 17% of its global workforce, or roughly 3,000 employees, to streamline operations. Following this news, the company’s stock price dropped 3.95%. Shortly thereafter, Intuit released fiscal third-quarter results showing TurboTax revenue growth fell short of the 8% target. Executives, including CEO Sasan K. Goodarzi, subsequently acknowledged that the company had lost ground among price-sensitive consumers, leading to a further stock decline of 20.02% on May 21, 2026.
