The billionaire population grew by 8.2% over the year, reaching 3,795 individuals—the strongest expansion in five years. This growth has been unevenly distributed, with wealth concentrating sharply at the summit of the billionaire class. The world's 29 'superbillionaires,' each holding fortunes exceeding $50 billion, now control 27.2% of total billionaire wealth. Beyond market gains, the billionaire landscape is undergoing a structural transformation. A historic wealth transfer is expected over the next decade, with $6.6 trillion transitioning to nearly 5,000 direct heirs. As this wealth shifts, priorities are evolving; sports team ownership has become a primary passion asset, with over 200 billionaires now holding direct stakes in franchises. Additionally, philanthropy continues to rank as a top-two interest among the ultra-wealthy, a sector expected to see further influence as women account for a significant share of upcoming inheritances.
