The initiative, funded through the company’s Hyundai Hope corporate social responsibility arm, targets underserved communities where access to safety resources is often limited. Technicians will conduct year-round checks in Federal Way, Seattle, and Bellevue, ensuring that caregivers use age-appropriate seats and identifying expired or recalled equipment for immediate replacement.
Hyundai and Seattle Children’s Launch Child Safety Initiative
Nearly half of all car seats are installed incorrectly, a dangerous oversight that contributes to preventable injuries on the road. To bridge this gap, Hyundai Motor America has committed $25,000 to Seattle Children’s, launching a two-year program to provide free safety inspections and hands-on education across South King County.
Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration underscores the necessity of this work: proper installation reduces fatal injury risk by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for children aged 1 to 4. By embedding certified experts directly into the community, the partnership aims to reach 300 families over the next two years. Isabell Sakamoto, manager of community health at Seattle Children’s, noted that the funding allows the hospital to bring these vital resources directly to families who need them most. The program reflects a broader strategy by Hyundai to integrate safety advocacy into its dealer network, reinforcing the automaker’s ongoing commitment to child passenger protection.
