Vision Marine Technologies has filed a U.S. patent application for a new charging protection system designed to monitor and secure its E-Motion high-voltage marine powertrains. The technology aims to mitigate electrical risks by automatically detecting connection inconsistencies and halting the power flow without requiring direct user intervention during charging cycles.

Beyond consumer protection, the system is intended to assist dealers and service technicians by maintaining controlled electrical conditions during maintenance. Daniel Rathe, Chief Technology Officer at Vision Marine, noted that the value lies in the system's ability to react to anomalies in the background. The filing represents a strategic expansion of the company's intellectual property portfolio as it attempts to standardize safety across the E-Motion ecosystem, which integrates propulsion, cooling, and power management into a unified marine platform. The application is currently pending review by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
