Electric Pivots to AI-Driven IT and HR Automation

Electric has relaunched its business model, moving from a traditional help desk service to an AI-powered platform that automates IT and HR workflows for small and midsize companies. By integrating directly with major payroll providers, the platform aims to manage employee lifecycles without requiring dedicated internal IT staff.

The company’s shift follows an analysis of two million IT tickets processed since its 2017 founding. CEO Ryan Denehy stated that the new architecture addresses the growing convergence of IT and HR by automating complex tasks like device provisioning, access control, and security management. The platform currently supports over 55,000 users across 1,000 companies, offering services in English, Spanish, and French Canadian.

To facilitate this reach, Electric has established partnerships with industry leaders including ADP, Paychex, Paycor, UKG, Justworks, isolved, and TriNet. These integrations allow the platform to trigger automated IT workflows immediately following HR actions. Powered by OpenAI, the system provides 24/7 support through an AI assistant, alongside device lifecycle management and IT spend oversight. Having secured $200 million in funding from investors including Bessemer Venture Partners and Slack, the firm is positioning itself as a streamlined alternative to traditional managed service providers.
