U.S. Air Travel Sales Reach $9.6 Billion in July

U.S.-based travel agencies processed $9.6 billion in air ticket sales during July 2026, marking an 18% surge compared to the same period last year. The data, released by the Airlines Reporting Corporation, reflects a broader expansion in passenger volume across both domestic and international routes throughout the summer season.

U.S. Air Travel Sales Reach $9.6 Billion in July

The report highlights a steady climb in travel activity, with total passenger trips reaching 25.8 million for the month. This represents a 6% increase over June and a 4% rise year-over-year. Domestic travel accounted for 16.5 million of these trips, while international bookings contributed 9.3 million, both showing consistent growth trends.

Despite the rise in volume, average ticket prices saw a slight decline of 2% month-over-month, settling at $619. When broken down by cabin class, economy tickets averaged $565, while premium class fares stood at $1,415. Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC, noted that these figures underscore a resilient market where travelers remain committed to their itineraries. Additionally, New Distribution Capability (NDC) transactions represented 21.2% of the total volume, processed by 1,186 reporting travel agencies.
