Owens joins the Bethesda-based company with a background spanning genomics, gene editing, and advanced therapeutics. Her previous leadership roles include tenures at Discovery Life Sciences and Landmark Bio, where she focused on scaling commercial operations and forging strategic partnerships. Her arrival addresses a growing industry shift where drug discovery increasingly relies on precisely characterized samples rather than generic collections.

Precision for Medicine currently maintains an extensive inventory comprising over one million biofluid specimens and three million tissue samples. According to company president Sofia Baig, the goal is to leverage these assets by pairing them with the firm’s internal molecular characterization capabilities. Owens intends to transition the business from a transactional sourcing model toward a consultative approach, ensuring that research sponsors receive data-rich samples tailored to their evolving project requirements. Owens holds an MBA from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, alongside advanced degrees in biological anthropology and biology.
