PowerBank Secures Permits for C$14 Million Nova Scotia Solar Project
With environmental permitting finalized, PowerBank Corporation is set to break ground on a 6.86 MW community solar farm in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia. The project, backed by significant federal and provincial support, aims to provide local residents and businesses with a direct path to renewable energy and long-term utility savings.
Financial backing for the C$14 million project includes a C$960,000 grant from Net Zero Atlantic and a matching C$960,000 award from the federal Smart Renewables and Electrification Pathways Program. Furthermore, the company anticipates receiving up to C$2.639 million through the federal Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit. Once operational, the farm is expected to generate enough electricity to power 628 homes annually, while delivering approximately C$3.86 million in lifetime savings to the Annapolis Valley community through a subscription-based model that avoids the need for private rooftop equipment.
