Nationals Park Turns Into a Canine Training Ground

Baseball fans and their dogs will storm the Right Field Plaza at Nationals Park on August 25, as Eukanuba brings its Fuel Extraordinary Combine to the Washington Nationals' Pups in the Park event. The activation invites canine athletes to test their speed, agility, and focus on a custom-built diamond.

Behind Section 143, the stadium will host a series of baseball-inspired trials designed to showcase the physical capabilities of family pets. The challenges include the Home Plate Hustle, where owners assist their dogs in a sprint from third base, a command-based test on a miniature pitching mound, and a vertical-jump competition dubbed the Game-Winning Catch.

Participants can track their results through the Extraordinary Index, a digital scouting report that measures performance metrics like run times and jump height. Owners have the option to compare these stats against those of Natty, the official Washington Nationals team dog and a Canine Companions service dog in training. On-site behavior experts will provide additional insights, and visitors can walk away with branded merchandise ranging from rally towels to custom engraved ID tags.

Jason Taylor, Vice President of Eukanuba, noted that the event aims to celebrate the athletic potential found in every dog. For the Nationals organization, the collaboration serves as a way to deepen the fan experience during one of their most popular seasonal events. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. ET, and the combine will remain active until the eighth inning, with attendees also eligible to enter a drawing for a one-year supply of Eukanuba dog food.
