Cliffwater Recruits GIC Veteran Sam Walsh for Real Assets Expansion
Sam Walsh, a former senior executive at GIC, has joined Cliffwater as a Managing Director for the Cascade Real Assets Fund. His arrival marks the latest strategic hire for the firm as it aggressively scales its private markets interval fund platform, which currently manages over $44 billion in net assets.
Blake Nesbitt, Cliffwater’s Chief Investment Officer, emphasized that Walsh’s track record in large-scale capital allocation will be critical as the company grows the Cascade Real Assets Fund. Walsh joins a team recently bolstered by the appointments of Ryan Madani as Managing Director and Sean Brenan as Head of Real Estate and Portfolio Manager. These additions leverage Cliffwater’s broader platform, which has deployed $136 billion in private markets since its inception in 2004.
