Hopscotch Primary Care Secures $53 Million to Expand Rural Health Reach
A $53 million Series D funding round will fuel the expansion of Hopscotch Primary Care, a startup targeting the deepening crisis in rural American medicine. Backed by 8VC and Townhall Ventures, the company aims to scale its tech-driven model into new markets beyond its current footprint in the Southeastern United States.

CEO Tim Gronniger noted that the capital arrives at a critical inflection point for rural health, where federal investment and AI advancements are creating opportunities to stabilize a sector plagued by hospital closures and physician shortages. New investors, including John Doerr, Dr. Richard Merkin, and the Autism Impact Fund, joined existing backers like Citi Impact Fund and aMoon Fund to support this growth. By integrating clinical care with scalable software, Hopscotch reports it has already achieved profitable operations in its North Carolina facilities, proving that value-based care can thrive in underserved small towns.
