The company’s climb in the rankings reflects a deliberate shift in operational focus, including expanded training programs, revised internal policies, and formal participation in the United Nations Global Compact. Mathew Bartkowiak, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility and Development, noted that these initiatives are designed to uncover new efficiencies and mitigate risks while strengthening long-term stakeholder relationships.
Nelson-Jameson Climbs to EcoVadis Silver Sustainability Ranking
Moving up from consecutive bronze honors, food processing distributor Nelson-Jameson has secured an EcoVadis Silver Medal. The award places the Marshfield-based firm in the 87th percentile of global companies assessed, marking a significant jump in its sustainability management score from 68 to 75 over the past year.

EcoVadis evaluates participants against a network of over 100,000 businesses, providing comparative metrics on ethics, environmental impact, and labor practices. For the fourth-generation, family-owned distributor, this recognition serves as a benchmark for its ongoing ESG goals. Nelson-Jameson intends to maintain this momentum by continuing annual assessments and publishing a comprehensive corporate responsibility report in January 2027.
