Chiu, currently the President of Empire State Realty Trust, brings extensive experience from her tenure at Morgan Stanley and her background in capital markets and real estate investment. Joining her is Mueller, a veteran of the residential sector who previously held leadership roles at Progress Residential, Irvine Company Apartment Communities, and Archstone Communities. Mueller also serves on the board of Vivmark Residential, the entity formed by the merger of AvalonBay Communities and Equity Residential.
NNN REIT Taps Industry Veterans for Board Succession
As Betsy D. Holden prepares to step down from the NNN REIT board in February 2027, the company has appointed two industry heavyweights, Christina Chiu and Charles D. Mueller, Jr., to ensure a seamless transition and bolster its long-term growth strategy effective October 1.
Board Chair Edward J. Fritsch cited the pair's sophisticated backgrounds as vital to maintaining the company’s trajectory. The new directors were selected following an extensive search to replace departing members, including Holden, whose service was lauded by the leadership team for providing steady guidance. NNN REIT, which oversees a portfolio of 3,774 properties across the United States and Puerto Rico, expects these additions to provide fresh perspectives on its net-lease investment model and shareholder value initiatives.
