The series addresses modern threats such as AI-enabled impersonation schemes while offering guidance on essential tasks like establishing powers of attorney and organizing beneficiary designations.
Washington Trust Launches Program to Combat Senior Financial Fraud
The Washington Trust Company has introduced Age With Wisdom™, a community-focused initiative aimed at shielding older adults in Rhode Island and Connecticut from financial exploitation. The program provides specialized education on fraud prevention, long-term financial planning, and the navigation of complex caregiving transitions for seniors and their families.

Washington Trust President and Chief Operating Officer Mary Noons emphasized that the initiative serves as a proactive bulwark against elder financial abuse. The bank previously garnered national attention for intervening in a scam targeting a longtime customer, a success that underscored the vital role financial institutions play in protecting vulnerable clients. Beyond in-person seminars scheduled across the region, the bank offers digital resources and planning guides to help seniors maintain financial independence throughout their retirement years.
