The company reported a total treasury of 1,917 BTC and 3,952 ETH as of month-end. While mining operations navigate a volatile environment, Canaan’s leadership highlighted a shift in capital allocation, viewing generated cryptocurrency as a strategic reserve to be deployed when market conditions undervalue the firm’s underlying assets. This repurchase strategy follows a board authorization from late 2025.
Canaan Inc. Pivots to Share Buybacks as Mining Operations Stabilize
Canaan Inc. mined 46 bitcoins in July 2026, bolstering a digital asset treasury that the company now intends to use for share repurchases. Facing a depressed market valuation, the firm aims to leverage its holdings to support its stock price while continuing to expand its global computing and energy infrastructure.

Operational performance showed signs of recovery, particularly within the company’s joint venture projects in West Texas. Following earlier disruptions caused by wildfires at the Alborz site, operating hashrate climbed to 4.20 EH/s. Meanwhile, the company remains focused on regulatory standing, having successfully transferred its listing to the Nasdaq Capital Market. Canaan has been granted until January 11, 2027, to meet the exchange’s minimum bid price requirement, an objective management is actively pursuing through both operational growth and treasury management.
