Senken Secures 50,000 Tonnes of Carbon Storage in Namibia Deal
A multi-year agreement between Berlin-based Senken and Carbonsate marks the largest biomass storage deal in Europe to date. The contract covers 50,000 tonnes of permanent carbon removal through 2028, signaling a strategic shift to lock in verified, high-integrity climate capacity before corporate demand outstrips supply.

Senken CEO Adrian Wons noted that corporate net-zero targets are rapidly exhausting verified capacity, making long-term access critical for European buyers. For Carbonsate, the deal provides the financial stability required to scale its African storage sites. Each site utilizes a proprietary monitoring and verification system, ensuring the carbon remains locked away for centuries while meeting the stringent requirements of the Puro.earth standard.
