Creech, formerly the chair of Venable’s Real Estate Group, brings extensive experience representing institutional lenders, commercial developers, and investors. His practice spans the entire life cycle of real estate assets, including industrial, multifamily, health care, and data center projects. Firm leadership emphasized that the appointment is designed to deepen existing client relationships and leverage the firm’s multidisciplinary platform.
Joseph Creech Tapped to Lead Greenberg Traurig D.C. Real Estate Practice
After two decades at Venable, Joseph W. Creech is moving to Greenberg Traurig to spearhead the firm’s real estate operations across the Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia markets. The hire marks a strategic expansion for the firm’s global practice as it continues to consolidate its presence in the Mid-Atlantic region.

This transition follows a sustained hiring streak in the firm's D.C. office, which has recently recruited high-profile figures from the Department of Commerce and the Federal Aviation Administration. Greenberg Traurig’s Executive Chairman, Richard A. Rosenbaum, pointed to Creech’s background as a "seamless fit" for the firm’s culture and its focus on complex, cross-jurisdictional transactions. Creech holds both a J.D. and a B.A. from Duke University and will work alongside established leaders in the firm’s Global Hospitality Practice to bolster its national capabilities.
