This environmental impact is equivalent to the carbon sequestration of two million acres of U.S. forests, a landmass exceeding the size of Delaware.
Synagro Targets Circular Economy in 40th Anniversary Sustainability Report
By diverting over 17 million tons of residuals from landfills into nutrient-rich fertilizer, Synagro Technologies avoided more than two million metric tons of CO2e last year. The Baltimore-based firm’s 2025 sustainability report marks four decades of operations, highlighting a shift toward circular resource management across North America.
Beyond environmental metrics, the firm reported a 10% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions since 2023. Operational safety also improved, with the company recording a 30% reduction in its total recordable incident rate, a figure that currently outpaces industry averages. CEO Bob Preston noted that these gains reflect a long-term commitment to soil regeneration and water quality, framing sustainability as a driver for both financial health and organizational growth.
