Liberty HealthShare Launches $100,000 Grant Program for Ohio Churches

Twenty churches across nine Northeast Ohio counties will soon receive financial backing to expand their outreach efforts. Liberty HealthShare announced the Sharing Hearts for the Church initiative this week, dedicating $100,000 in grant funding to support ministries addressing hunger, homelessness, and local family hardships through a series of $5,000 awards.

The program was unveiled at a Faith Breakfast hosted at Malone University, gathering regional pastors and social service leaders to discuss collaborative approaches to community support. According to Liberty HealthShare CEO Dorsey Morrow, the initiative focuses on bolstering existing work in food pantries, shelters, and outreach ministries rather than reinventing local services. The organization seeks to empower those already embedded in their neighborhoods, aiming to multiply the impact of current charitable projects.

Applications are open to Christian churches within Stark, Summit, Portage, Mahoning, Columbiana, Carroll, Holmes, Wayne, and Tuscarawas counties. Organizations do not need to participate in Liberty HealthShare’s medical cost-sharing programs to qualify for funding. A committee composed of church leaders and staff will evaluate proposals based on their potential for local impact. Interested applicants must submit their projects by October 1, 2026, via the organization’s dedicated portal.
