Weill Cornell Joins Nitinotes Obesity Treatment Trial

The EASE™ trial focuses on the safety and efficacy of the EndoZip™ Automated Suturing System, a platform developed by the Israel-based company Nitinotes. By enabling a standardized approach to endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, the technology aims to provide a reliable alternative to traditional weight-loss interventions. The data gathered from this multicenter study will form the basis of a future marketing submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Lloyd Diamond, CEO of Nitinotes, noted that the inclusion of such a high-profile academic medical center reinforces the company's efforts to build robust clinical evidence. For her part, Dr. Sharaiha, who directs endoscopy at the institution and serves on the company's scientific advisory board, emphasized the urgency of addressing obesity through more accessible, minimally invasive procedures. While the EndoZip™ device already holds a CE Mark for use in European markets, it remains restricted to investigational use within the United States until the trial reaches its conclusion.
