inKind Secures $414 Million to Expand Restaurant Growth Platform

Austin-based restaurant commerce platform inKind has secured $414 million in a new financing tranche, pushing its total capital raised beyond $1.2 billion. The oversubscribed round, led by Citi and Cross River, signals growing institutional interest in the company’s model of providing growth capital and demand generation to independent operators.

The latest capital injection includes $175 million from Citi and $150 million from Cross River, with additional mezzanine support from Sagard, Varadero Capital, and Trinity Capital. This move follows a $320 million commitment from Liberty Mutual Investments, providing inKind the necessary scale to deploy over $1 billion in growth capital to approximately 10,000 restaurants throughout the coming year.

CEO Johann Moonesinghe noted that the inclusion of a global institution like Citi validates the company's decade-long effort to standardize restaurant financing. By moving beyond traditional debt or equity, inKind integrates upfront capital with AI-driven marketing and guest rewards. The platform currently connects 5 million diners to a network of 8,500 restaurants, which generate a combined $30 billion in annual gross merchandise value. As the platform scales, the company leverages proprietary data to help operators optimize guest acquisition and long-term financial stability.
