Over 110 employees at the Kemps production facility in Farmington, Minnesota, have overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike. Represented by Teamsters Local 471, the workers are demanding wage increases to combat inflation, enhanced health benefits, expanded vacation time, and stronger protections for future collective action against the Dairy Farmers of America subsidiary.
Ryan Just, a longtime worker and union steward on the bargaining committee, emphasized that the union’s demands are modest. He noted that the primary goal is a contract that stabilizes household finances and provides more personal time. While the workers have cleared the path for a walkout, they remain open to negotiations, expressing a desire to avoid a work stoppage if management presents a fair agreement.
