Arup Taps Jee Mee Kim-Diaz to Lead Eastern U.S. Expansion

Kim-Diaz arrives from Arcadis, where she served as the New York City metro area city executive. Her appointment marks a significant push for Arup as it seeks to integrate its engineering and advisory services across sectors ranging from transportation and energy to healthcare and climate resilience. Scott Russell, Arup’s Americas Managing Director, noted that her dual background in public and private sectors makes her uniquely qualified to manage the complexities of the firm's most influential business unit.

Her track record includes high-profile regional projects such as the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Program, the Second Avenue Subway, and the World Trade Center redevelopment. During her tenure as Chief Strategy Officer at the New York City Department of Transportation, she managed expansive infrastructure rollouts, including the city's "Blue Highways" freight pilot and significant expansions of protected bike and bus lanes. In her new capacity, Kim-Diaz will focus on addressing aging infrastructure and decarbonization, working to align Arup’s technical output with the urgent demands of dense, rapidly evolving urban environments.
