Innovent Biologics and Daiichi Sankyo Partner to Commercialize Vanflyta

Innovent Biologics and Daiichi Sankyo have entered an exclusive agreement to commercialize the leukemia drug Vanflyta in China. Under the deal, Daiichi Sankyo retains control over manufacturing and development, while Innovent assumes responsibility for market promotion and distribution of the therapy for FLT3-ITD positive acute myeloid leukemia patients.

The partnership marks the addition of Vanflyta to Innovent’s commercial portfolio, bringing their total number of products to 20. Approved in China in June 2026, the drug is designed for use alongside standard chemotherapy for adults diagnosed with FLT3-ITD positive acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This mutation, which occurs in roughly 25% of all AML cases, is known for driving aggressive cancer growth and contributing to higher relapse rates.

Vivian Zhang, Chief Commercial Officer at Innovent, noted that the drug strengthens the company's hematology franchise alongside existing offerings like sintilimab and rituximab. Michio Hayashi, President of Daiichi Sankyo China, stated that the collaboration aims to combine the company's research capabilities with Innovent’s established commercial presence to accelerate patient access to the treatment. In China, leukemia remains a significant public health challenge, accounting for over 50,000 deaths in 2022, with AML representing approximately half of all diagnosed cases.
