Northwest Biotherapeutics Partners with SPIMACO to Bring Cancer Therapy to Saudi Arabia

The proposed collaboration establishes a revenue-sharing framework for the approval, commercialization, and supply of DCVax-L, a dendritic cell-based vaccine designed to treat aggressive brain cancers. Under the terms, SPIMACO would act as the primary commercial partner, managing interactions with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, while Northwest Biotherapeutics retains all intellectual property rights and provides scientific support along with product manufacturing.

Beyond immediate commercial goals, the agreement emphasizes technology transfer and the localization of production. As Saudi Arabia accelerates its transition into a global life sciences hub, the two companies intend to negotiate separate, definitive licenses to establish domestic manufacturing capabilities. This move aligns with SPIMACO’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in biopharmaceuticals and strengthen the Kingdom’s pharmaceutical security. While the current scope focuses on glioblastoma, both parties have signaled that the partnership could eventually extend to other cancer indications and additional territories within the Gulf Cooperation Council.
