Sodyo Unveils RangeMark for Kilometer-Range Drone Identification

Autonomous drones often struggle to confirm the identity of objects despite sophisticated AI-powered vision. Tel Aviv-based Sodyo Ltd. is addressing this gap with RangeMark, a patented technology capable of identifying passive, battery-free markers from up to one kilometer away without relying on GPS, cellular, or radio frequency connectivity.

While standard artificial intelligence estimates what a drone sees, RangeMark provides deterministic verification. By utilizing printed markers that require no power or data transmission, the system allows drones to distinguish between specific assets rather than guessing classifications. This capability enables precise identification of rooftops, vehicles, or personnel, which is vital for scaling autonomous operations where certainty is required for independent action.

CEO Alon Raz noted that the technology represents a decade of development, shifting the industry focus from mere visual detection to confirmed knowledge. The system works with standard cameras and supports various marker formats, including high-density color codes and duo-tone carbon codes. Sodyo plans to demonstrate the technology to drone OEMs and integrators at the Commercial UAV Expo Americas 2026 in Las Vegas.
