FMI Corporation Consolidates Professional Training for Construction

Raleigh-based FMI Corporation is centralizing its educational offerings under the newly launched FMI Training Institute. By grouping long-standing leadership and performance programs into a single portfolio, the firm aims to provide construction and engineering companies with a more structured approach to talent development and organizational growth.

Modern construction firms grapple with increasing project complexity and shifting team dynamics. FMI’s new institute targets these challenges through two primary tracks: Leadership and Performance. The leadership curriculum focuses on self-awareness, communication, and coaching, featuring programs like the Field Leader Institute and the Leadership Accelerator Series. Meanwhile, the performance track emphasizes project execution and financial management, renaming the established Construction Executive Institute to the Construction Business Academy to better reflect its current scope.

Matt Kennedy, a partner at FMI, noted that intentional investment in human capital remains one of the most effective strategies for firms seeking to improve retention and bottom-line results. Unlike generic corporate training, these programs utilize industry-specific scenarios designed to mirror the daily pressures of the built environment. Emily Cannon, senior director of programs, emphasized that the curriculum avoids hypothetical exercises in favor of practical decision-making frameworks. Firms can access current schedules and registration details through the company’s digital portal.
