Pancha arrives with a history of building enterprise data firms, most notably founding StreamSets before its sale to Software AG and subsequent acquisition by IBM. He also held a key product role at Informatica. His mandate is to shift Matillion beyond traditional ETL pipelines toward automated, AI-native data products. Former CEO Matthew Scullion will transition to a seat on the board of directors to support the shift in strategy.
Matillion Taps Industry Veterans to Scale AI Data Platform
Matillion has appointed data industry veteran Girish Pancha as CEO and former Google executive Sanjay Krishnamurthi as Chief Development Officer. The leadership shakeup aims to accelerate the adoption of Maia, the company’s AI-native data automation platform, as enterprise demand for governed, AI-ready data products continues to climb.
Krishnamurthi brings experience from major cloud providers, having led data integration and governance services at Google and spearheaded the development of Azure Data Factory at Microsoft. He will oversee product and engineering, focusing on the evolution of Maia’s autonomous agents. Investors, including Battery Ventures, view the pairing of Pancha and Krishnamurthi as a move to transition Matillion from a challenger into a category-defining infrastructure provider for global clients like EDF and Balfour Beatty.
