Stacey Shively, Chief Merchant Officer at Michaels, noted that the initiative aims to foster artistic connection while increasing accessibility to high-end materials. To support this, the company is introducing hundreds of new products from brands such as Liquitex, Winsor & Newton, and Faber-Castell. The store’s expanded inventory includes specialized airbrush machines from Iwata and professional-grade surfaces from Arches and Canson.
Michaels Launches August Fine Art Month With Expanded Premium Inventory
As a growing number of consumers seek hands-on creative outlets, Michaels has designated August as Fine Art Month. The retailer is transforming its 1,300 North American locations and digital platforms into community hubs, offering free workshops, live demonstrations, and significant discounts on professional-grade supplies throughout the month.

Community engagement remains central to the month-long program. Every Tuesday and Wednesday evening, stores will host open classroom sessions where participants can experiment with new materials. Sundays are reserved for guided art projects, while online sessions provide daily instruction in disciplines ranging from portraiture to watercolor. Beyond the events, Michaels is offering aggressive promotions, including BOGO deals on sketchbooks and canvas, which can be combined with their standing 15% teacher discount. A social media giveaway scheduled for late August will further encourage participation by offering professional-grade supply kits to followers.
