Zevra Therapeutics Faces Securities Probe After Regulatory Setback

A 24% single-day collapse in Zevra Therapeutics shares has triggered a securities investigation by the law firm Levi & Korsinsky. The sharp decline on July 24, 2026, followed a negative opinion from European regulators regarding the approval status of arimoclomol, a drug intended to treat Niemann-Pick disease type C.

The European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use issued the adverse ruling before market hours, marking the stock's worst performance in over five years. The investigation centers on whether the company provided misleading information to shareholders regarding the drug's path to market. Specifically, attorneys are scrutinizing comments made by President and CEO Neil McFarlane during a May 2024 earnings call, where he asserted that arimoclomol would likely serve as the sole foundational therapy for NPC patients.

Investors who incurred losses following the announcement are now being evaluated for potential legal claims. Eligibility for the investigation depends on purchase dates and resulting financial harm, regardless of whether the shares were subsequently sold. Levi & Korsinsky, which operates on a contingency basis, is requesting that affected shareholders prepare brokerage records and trade confirmations to determine if they qualify for recovery efforts.
