Autumn Meteorite Festival Returns to Tokyo This October

Under the guidance of artistic director Toshiki Okada, the festival shifts its focus toward fostering cross-border dialogue and nurturing emerging talent. The 2026 program features a diverse array of global voices, ranging from Christopher Ruping’s German production of "CRAVE" and Nadia Beugre’s "Burning Girls" from the Ivory Coast to experimental works like the Japan-US-UK collaboration "Blue Moon Over Memphis."

Beyond traditional stage performances, the event integrates "Hello and Welcome" initiatives to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity. Attendees can engage with unique installations and projects, including the collaborative "A Massive Attack of The Quietness" by Okada and Kazuki Yamada, or participate in the "Future Ideations Camp" hosted by CCBT. By balancing domestic staples with international avant-garde, the organizers aim to turn the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre into a laboratory for the "here and now" of contemporary performing arts.
