SunStream and Argent Reach Launch Cybersecurity Program for Farm Credit

Agricultural lenders face a mounting threat landscape, prompting St. Paul-based SunStream Business Services and cybersecurity firm Argent Reach to launch FieldSafe Cyber Defense. The new managed service provides tailored security infrastructure designed specifically for the unique regulatory and operational requirements of the Farm Credit System.

SunStream and Argent Reach Launch Cybersecurity Program for Farm Credit

The Farm Credit System, which manages over $400 billion in assets and supports half a million borrowers, has long struggled with security solutions built for massive commercial banks. FieldSafe Cyber Defense aims to close this gap by offering modular, sector-specific protection that addresses risks ranging from sophisticated AI-driven phishing to ransomware campaigns timed to coincide with critical planting and harvest cycles.

This launch arrives as institutions grapple with the Farm Credit Administration’s Code of Federal Regulations Part 609, which mandates robust cyber risk management. Rather than imposing generic enterprise frameworks, the program provides a tiered approach including 24/7 security operations, vulnerability management, and virtual CISO support. SunStream CEO Dan Ritch noted that the initiative is designed to provide scalable protection for organizations that cannot feasibly maintain full internal security teams. Argent Reach CEO JD Harris emphasized that the partnership focuses on the sector’s specific seasonal rhythms and relationship-banking culture, ensuring that rural financial institutions can maintain resilience without the prohibitive costs of custom-built, in-house security departments.
