The Scodix Ultra 2500 SHD units are designed to enhance detail and texture through Smart High Definition and Multi-Layer Embellishment technologies. These systems allow for high-quality finishes directly on uncoated paper, a capability that Shutterfly integrates into its custom stationery, photo books, and home décor lines. By automating these premium touches at scale, the company aims to maintain its position in the competitive web-to-print market.
Shutterfly Scales Digital Embellishment with Four Scodix Presses
Shutterfly is scaling its personalized product operations with the purchase of four Scodix Ultra 2500 SHD presses, marking a significant expansion of a partnership that began in 2018. The new hardware, supported by a five-year service agreement, will be deployed ahead of the company's 2026 peak production season.

Dave Bull, Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at Shutterfly, noted that the equipment is central to delivering products that meet both aesthetic and speed requirements. Eli Grinberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Scodix, stated that the repeat investment underscores the long-term utility of their digital enhancement platforms in high-volume manufacturing environments.
