Destinus Advances to Live Trials in EU Sentinel Strike Challenge

European developer Destinus has secured a spot among the top five participants in the Sentinel Strike Challenge, earning a direct invitation to field-test its loitering munitions. The company will now move from theoretical evaluation to live operational experimentation at a Portuguese military training site this autumn.

The European Defence Agency (EDA) selected Destinus following a rigorous Stage 1 assessment of technical proposals from across the European Union. Through its Hub for European Defence Innovation, the agency aims to gather performance data on emerging strike capabilities, specifically focusing on reliability and resilience in contested environments. The upcoming trials will evaluate the full mission cycle, encompassing launch, target detection, and post-strike assessment.

Destinus will deploy its European-manufactured system at the Santa Margarida Military Training Area from September 28 to October 9, 2026. This phase, integrated into the Portuguese Army’s ARTEX26 exercise, serves as a testbed for operational suitability under realistic conditions. Final results from this experimentation campaign are scheduled for announcement at the EDA Annual Conference in early 2027.
