The partnership targets the primary obstacles consumers face when switching financial providers: the manual labor of moving direct deposits and recurring payments. Pinwheel’s technology, specifically its PreMatch feature, removes the need for users to remember payroll provider credentials. By identifying payroll records automatically during onboarding, the system allows users to initiate switches via a one-time passcode. According to Pinwheel, this two-click authentication process converts at twice the rate of traditional methods, with 64% of prompted users completing the switch.

Jaimeson Rice, CEO of Pinwheel, noted that the 1,500 financial institutions currently on the MeridianLink platform represent a significant opportunity for deposit growth. By embedding these tools directly into the onboarding workflow, banks can secure recurring revenue streams immediately.
