The second-place scholarship of $7,000 was awarded to Angelreana Choi, a Yale graduate heading to the University of Virginia School of Law, who plans to focus her advocacy on immigrant and rural communities.
JD-Next Awards Inaugural Scholarships to Ten Future Legal Advocates
From a pool of over 1,000 applicants, JD-Next has selected ten incoming law students to receive its first-ever Impact Scholarships. These awards recognize individuals who demonstrate a profound commitment to strengthening the justice system and supporting vulnerable communities as they begin their legal education in the fall of 2026.
Eight additional finalists, representing institutions from Harvard to UCLA, each received $1,000 to assist with their tuition costs. The selection committee evaluated candidates based on their leadership experience, academic achievement, and the clarity of their vision for societal change. Aspen Publishing CEO Nicole Pinard noted that the high volume of applications reflects a resilient generation of students dedicated to the future of the profession. All funds are paid directly to the recipients' respective law schools.
